In the year 2020, we are unable to visit the world’s sacred places. But we still can travel to them, experience their magic, hear their story, and learn from them.
Over the next several months, Jeanne Fiorini and Margaret Jones will be presenting
a series of Zoom workshops, each one focusing on a particular pilgrimage site.
The itinerary will send us to Petra in Jordan, Newgrange in Ireland, Glastonbury in Somerset England, Saint Brigid's Well in Kildare (Ireland), and Anglesey, Wales.
The third leg of this five-part series will be a pilgrimage to St. Brigid’s Well in Kildare, Ireland. We will walk the countryside where she inspired the name “Emerald Isle,"
visit ceremonial sites imbued with her presence, and visit one of the 3000 holy wells named after her. It is in this magical place where we encounter the transformative bridge between the pagan and Christian worlds.
We will hear the tale of two Brigids, wise women whose stories are woven together with the land: Brigid the ancient pagan goddess of the hearth, smithcraft, and healing; and later in history, the Christian woman Brigid, a contemporary of St. Patrick and a woman recognized for her deep wisdom and spiritual commitment. We will visit the site where the Goddess Brigid conducted fire ceremonies, and the church where St. Brigid created her own spiritual community , where she and her nuns also maintained a sacred fire -- a flame which continues to be tended to by the Brigidine sisters to this day. On the heels of St. Brigid’s Day, we conclude our journey at the holy shrine of Brigid, Tobair Bride, where we can pause to place a ribbon on the traditional “Wishing Tree.”
During this pilgrimage we will pause along the way for personal reflection, and by using the Tarot will receive guidance and clarity about our own inner journey. In this virtual landscape to this mythic location, we will create a personal travel log of our experience. No travel experience or knowledge of the Tarot is required. Come along as we explore the inner and outer pathways!
