My interest in the Tarot lies in how the symbols and archetypes play out in our everyday world and how the mysteries of consciousness can be directly experienced through these images.

TAROT! RENAISSANCE SYMBOLS, MODERN VISIONS. That’s the banner headline for this landmark collection of Tarot-related works dating from the 1400’s to the present day. And that’s exactly what the viewer who leaves the exhibit understands: that the images may change but the symbols remain.
I attended the exhibit during the final month of its 3-month stay at The Morgan Library, and the place was still abuzz with visitors. Wandering the rooms, I wondered what drew people to an exhibit which, twenty years ago, would have mustered a fraction of the attention this collection has garnered. Were these visitors Tarot aficionados, practitioners, students, people interested in the art and/or symbolism, or simply folks curious about what all the fuss is about?

This 2-night workshop series is geared for the person with some basic Tarot knowledge who is wondering, “Now what do I do?” With a few basic pointers and a concise query, even a few cards can yield significant insight. We will look at how to formulate an effective question, examine options for dealing with a daily draw, demonstrate methods for examining issues regarding relationships, choices, and timing, as well as life’s bigger questions. We will address important “dos and don’ts” as we use live readings from volunteer class members to help define how cards work together to tell their story.
